Our Mission

Common Ground Center is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, dedicated to bringing together and strengthening diverse families and communities. We offer programs focused on music and the arts, the healing arts and outdoor exploration.

While our facilities were designed with families in mind, our programs have been enjoyed by individuals and couples as well. Since 1994, we have served people from 29 states and 11 countries. Our programs run primarily during the month of August, although we have occasional programs running throughout the non-heating season.

We are located in a brand new, ecologically-designed facility on 700 acres of land. Our site is bounded by Lewis Creek and the Hogback Mountains, with stunning views and large open fields. Program space and meals are provided in converted barns, and campers can stay in cabins or in tents.

Our facility is available for rental by other groups during the period from mid-May through mid-October. It will hold 100 people comfortably.

Our goals are:

  • to foster strong and healthy families that:
    • learn and grow together, supporting each other to gain new skills and explore individual creative talents
    • interact cooperatively, to make families, neighborhoods and communities more vital and sustainable
    • communicate openly and honestly, to share joys and concerns, solve problems, and resolve disputes
    • play together, making time to laugh, relax, and simply enjoy each other’s company
  • to develop strong and sustainable communities that:
    • intentionally welcome, support, and celebrate diversity
    • counter alienation by fostering interdependence among community members
    • honor the unique contributions and talents of each community member
    • take responsibility for the well-being of each community member
    • value our interdependence with the natural environment
